Tribe Members: Notification of Election of Executive Board Be advised the Annual Meeting of The Santa Rosa County Creek Indian Tribe, Inc. will be held at 6:00 PM, October 23rd, 2017 at the Pace Community Center, Pace, Florida. Nominations for one Tribal Council seat are now open. That seat is currently occupied by Tracy Gibbs. Qualifications of the Council Must be a Creek Indian or descendant of a Creek Indian. Must be registered on the rolls of The Santa Rosa County Creek Indian Tribe, Inc., must be eighteen (18) years of age or older (voting Member of the Tribe) and be qualified and in good standing with the conditions of Membership of the Tribe. All persons nominated and elected to the Council must for the previous year have been a Full and current member in good standing for a minimum of one year and must have actively participated in at least 60% of tribal activities during that time. Any and all qualifications must be verified, accepted and approved by unanimous vote of the Nominating Committee. *Please note there are no Tribal Council Assistants at this time to qualify for a Tribal Council seat. Making a Nomination The Nominating Committee recommends that, as a courtesy, you ask your potential Nominee if they are willing to be a Nominee prior to your making a nomination. Nominations must be in writing and legible, plainly dated, list the name and position of the person nominated and all nomination letters must be signed (with printed name below) and must display Nominating Party’s Membership number. The Deadline for receipt of a Nomination is 5:00 PM, October 18th, 2017 by U. S. Mail at: Nominations Committee c/o The Santa Rosa County Creek Indian Tribe, Inc. 4750 Willard Norris Rd Milton, FL 32570 After the Nominating Committee meeting, all nominated parties shall be posted on Tribal website, so that Membership can inquire and choose the nominee of their choice. Voting Members Full Members and Associate Members, who are in good standing in the Tribe and have attended at least one Tribal meeting in the 11 months immediately preceding meeting the vote is being cast, may cast votes in the election of the Council Members and certain other Tribal actions which may involve a vote by the Membership. All votes must be cast in person by the Member in good standing. Proxies are not valid and will not be accepted in place of an in person vote being cast. Full and Associate Members must be 18 years of age to cast votes. Honorary Members shall not have the right to vote nor serve as a Council Member. Associate Members may not serve as a Council Member. The term “good standing” shall be defined as the Member having a Membership Card effective for the current year. The burden of proof shall be on the Member to prove “good standing”. Election of Corporate Officers The Tribal Council will elect a Chairman and Corporate Officers for the positions of Secretary and Treasurer at the Tribal Council Meeting of The Santa Rosa County Creek Indian Tribe, Inc. to be held at 6:30 PM, October 23rd, 2017 at the Pace Community Center, Pace, Florida. All Corporate Officers must be Members of the Council. The Secretary and Treasurer shall be elected for a period of two (2) years. The Chairman shall be elected by the Council at the beginning of each year for a period of one (1) year. The election of President (Chief), Vice President (Vice Chief), Secretary and Treasurer is achieved by a majority vote of the Council.
